About Berlin International School

Berlin International School (BIS) is a day school teaching students from the ages of 6-18 in the greater Berlin and Brandenburg areas. There are over 820 students from more than 60 nationalities on the school roll. BIS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Organisation World School as well as an official Cambridge Exam Centre. The school is also accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

The school is divided into primary and secondary school buildings, and is also affiliated with the Early Childhood Centre – Kita International. Primary school facilities include computer technology resources, two art rooms, two music rooms, a library, two dedicated classrooms for German and a small gym. All areas of the School are equipped with intranet (WLAN) and internet access via dedicated computer labs, mobile laptop trolleys, library facilities and individual computers in classrooms.

Values and vision

It is the aim of BIS that students learn in a multicultural community where each person is respected regardless of nationality, race, or religion. Students discover the world, its people, and its cultures through direct experience. Through play, study, and the relationships they form, students at B.I.S. learn to appreciate their own strengths and to respect differences. Combined with academic rigour, this experience extends outside the classroom and equips students for success and global citizenship beyond school.

In addition, the school provides courses and learning support services which address the needs of a student body diverse in educational background and ability. More than 90% of the graduating seniors enter universities and institutions of higher learning worldwide.
