About Hastings Boys' High School

Located in the city of Hastings, on New Zealand’s northern Island, Hastings Boys’ High School is a boy’s secondary school offering places to students in Years 9-13. First established in 1904, the school was originally co-educational, before being split into separate boys’ and girls’ sections in the 1950s. Hasting’s Boys’ High School is able to boast of a large number of high-quality teaching and recreational facilities on its 12-hectare site. This includes numerous dedicated teaching blocks, supporting numerous science labs and workshops, as well as creative and performing arts rooms, various IT suites, a swimming pool, extensive playing fields including four rugby pitches, sports halls and tennis courts.

Hastings Boys’ School follows the standard New Zealand curriculum, with students ultimately working towards the pre-university National Certificate of Educational Achievement. Outside the classroom, Hastings Boy’s High School also works hard to provide an extensive range of extra-curricular activities for its students, including a wide range of competitive sports opportunities and international fields trips. The school has a particular focus on sports, running the Gifted and Talented Programme Sports Academy in order to recognise and nurture outstanding athletic talent.
