Job overview

Description
St George Madrid is a fast growing, but young school within the St George’s Group of Schools in Spain and is located in a prime educational zone to the North of the capital. The school has recently merged its secondary and primary campuses onto a single site, with new purpose built facilities. The school has seen significant growth in recent years, with potential for more.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner, preferably with experience of teaching English across the secondary phase, including A-Level English Literature. We are currently seeking authorisation to replace our existing A-Level programme with an IB Diploma programme, so experience of teaching English A to IB Diploma would be an advantage. As part of the secondary team, the successful candidate would be expected to lead and assist with developing the school’s English programme. As an international school, we expect all of our staff to commit to the wider community of the school, through our after-school programme, events and activities that take place throughout the year. A commitment to educating the whole child, emphasis on high levels of pastoral care and an inclusive approach to education will be of the utmost importance as we make the final appointment. As our students come to us from a range of different backgrounds and with varying needs, an interest in raising attainment across all ability levels is very important. Candidates will also need to demonstrate evidence of being a strong team player as well as the ability to adapt quickly to new situations, with a flexible approach to problem solving. We follow an adapted English National Curriculum across our primary and secondary schools, leading to examination at IGCSE and currently A-Level.

If you are committed to child centred education, with a deep rooted desire to help every child reach their potential and are interested in helping shape the future development of an international school we would be delighted to hear from you. You can find out more about our schools by visiting our website www.stgeorge.es

Interviews
Initial interviews will be held by Skype on a rolling basis with a face-to-face meeting for the successful candidate wherever possible.

How to Apply
Interested candidates are invited to send in a letter of application outlining their educational philosophy and reasons for applying to St George Madrid together with a comprehensive CV, a recent passport-size photograph and contact details of three referees (one of which must be from your current school) to recruitment.madrid@stgeorge.es

The closing date for applications is Friday 4th May, although we will be reviewing applications as they arrive and reserve the right to make an early appointment for the right candidate.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care and expects all applicants to share this commitment. We follow safe recruitment practice and appointments are subject to an interview, satisfactory references and criminal record checks.
