Are you a passionate English Teacher? Our English Department is growing, and we are looking for an engaging and forward-thinking individual join the department. You will have high expectations of yourself and your students, and a proven track record delivering engaging and innovative lessons. You will also be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school and its community. We recently celebrated World Book Day across the school with a number of activities for our students to engage in.

The English team at QKA are an award-winning department with an ambitious and aspiring team. the team have been awarded the TES English Team of the Year 2021 award for their delivery of a ‘multi-layered approach in bringing texts to life for students, as well as the uniqueness of the curriculum and the ways in which diversity in literature is strongly embedded’ (TES Judges). The team were also shortlisted for the Bernice McCabe Award and were highly commended by the PTI for their work on the growth in their KS5 provision and social mobility.

 

The department is well resourced and led by fantastic practitioners and we are looking to appoint a colleague who shares their enthusiasm and unwavering determination to help every student enjoy, achieve and progress in English from KS3 through to KS5. In Sixth Form, A Level English Language and A Level English Literature are delivered and in both subjects students make well above average progress given their starting points.

Queen Katharine Academy is a member of the Peterborough based Thomas Deacon Education Trust and opened in September 2017 having emerged from its predecessor school, The Voyager Academy.  The name change signified a deep desire to be associated with its local community and to align itself with the admirable the Academy building values of Katharine of Aragon who is buried in the city’s cathedral.

Whilst a building does not make a school, it is worth noting that the Academy building is a purpose built, modern facility, providing a range of impressive classrooms and multi-use communal spaces with expansive playing fields and sporting facilities.  The Academy is a larger than average 11-19 school in north Peterborough with approximately 1100 students on roll – 300 in the sixth form. We are acutely aware that the key purpose of the Academy is to put students first and everything we do must reflect that aim. Our vision is: “To be an inclusive centre of educational excellence.”
