Nexus International School (Singapore) was founded in 2011 and is part of the Taylor’s Education Group. Since opening the school has thrived in the popular residential area of Holland Village. Nexus will move into its new state of the art Aljunied campus in January 2020. Flexible and innovative learning spaces support learner agency and enhance the learning experience.
Nexus is an Apple Distinguished School and is proudly focused on encouraging both the teaching and learning to be innovative, interactive and inspiring.
As a English teacher you will be primarily teaching Years 7 to 13 (ages 11 to 18). We work with the English National Curriculum, IGCSE and IB Diploma.
Our classes have a maximum teacher to child ratio of 1:24 (although most classes enjoy significantly lower ratios) dropping lower as children specialise in their IB Diploma. The student population is made up of over 50 different nationalities giving our school a truly global experience.
Commitment to inclusion is required and knowledge of EAL would be desirable. Nexus has a well established Apple 1:1 scheme, so considerable interest and skill with digital technologies is expected.
In addition to your role we have extra-curricular activities that you are expected to support, based on your passions. Staff can manage and coach a sports team or run a CCA like Makerspace.
Experience of teaching English to I/GCSE and IB Diploma (or equivalent) is essential. The ability to teach a second specialist subject, particularly to IGCSE, would be a distinct advantage.
Previous overseas experience is not required, however, the desire to work in a vibrant international inclusive community is essential.
Nexus International School (Singapore) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Police Authorities.
What you can expect from Nexus
