The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Our fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.

We provide some of the leading specialist education services in the North West region, operating a range of special schools, a further education college and centres supporting those who cannot attend mainstream schools. In addition, we offer a wide range of training, consultancy and support services for parents and carers.

Inscape House School is a specialist school for children with autistic spectrum disorders and related conditions, based on their Campus in Cheadle.

We now have an opportunity available for an English Teacher to join us and work as part of an interdisciplinary team in order to provide educational programmes for pupils with autistic spectrum disorders, lead a small staff team within a class and provide a specific specialism across the school as well as contribute to curriculum development within the school.

Responsible for the teaching and subject leadership for English, you will deliver functional skills (English) to a pastoral/tutor group of pupils with ASC and associated language and social communication difficulties which impacts on learning. Coordinating and contributing to the work of the multi-disciplinary team involved with ASC groups, you will develop and record individual educational and support programmes for the pupils in the class and assess, monitor and report of children’s progress with respect to their development in all areas of the school’s curriculum.

To be successful in this role, candidates must hold Qualified Teacher Status, have experience of working with children with special needs, in particular ASC in a classroom setting and an understanding of the National Curriculum and the demands it places on children with special needs.

Any experience of working with children with a range of language, social communication and learning difficulties (including autism) and a background of successful work with pupils displaying challenging behaviour would be beneficial but is not necessarily essential for the role.
