About The Role and You

Contract type: Full-time, permanent, term time only

Salary: Dependent on experience

Start date: September 2024

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and deliver engaging and effective English lessons, allow every student to reach their full potential.
  • Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Foster a love of reading and literature through the exploration of various literacy genres and texts.
  • Develop students writing skills through instruction in grammar, composition and creative writing techniques.
  • We are looking for someone who has:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A specialism in English Literature, or a relevant field.
  • Experience in teaching.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire students to embrace their studies.

Trinity School is an independent, co-educational, all-through school for children aged 3-19 years old. It is situated in Teignmouth, Devon, and has approximately 490 day and boarding pupils. Bursaries and scholarships are available.

Trinity School was founded in 1979. It is a Christian school built on joint Anglican and Roman Catholic foundations. Pupils of all faiths and none are welcome in the school, which follows a Christian ethos in all aspects of school life.

Trinity School places great value on the work of the chaplaincy, which gives pupils the opportunity to explore the Christian faith, as well as acting as another strand in school's pastoral support.

"The school provides a welcoming environment where pupils of all ages and abilities feel valued and encouraged to learn. Informed by the school’s ecumenical traditions, its ethos creates a community where pupil are welcomed as individuals with unique abilities and talents and are enabled to make good progress overall. The curriculum is good, enabling pupils to develop their basic skills in literacy, numeracy, scientific exploration and the creative arts as they progress from the EYFS to the sixth form. Pupils are confident and articulate, use information and communication technology (ICT) completely, work independently and cooperatively, and make good progress according to their ability. Lessons are well prepared and teachers use their subject knowledge well to encourage and support their pupils.”
