This is for a full time English teacher based at our Castle School site. However, all ‘Kingsmead’ colleagues can be deployed at any school across the federation.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious and inspirational teacher of English to join a highly regarded and successful team across Kingsmead schools.

This post would suit a colleague at any point of their teaching career that is passionate about teaching English and working with pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs.

The English department is successful and consistently secures positive outcomes for pupils within several qualification pathways including GCSE and Functional Skills. Although we consistently achieve excellent outcomes for pupils, we are not complacent. We are continually seeking new ways to maximise the potential and to celebrate the learning and progress of our pupils.

This TLR position is further evidence of this as we are looking for ways that can support our students emotionally and academically. This will involve building confidence and exam stamina from KS3 onwards, giving some of our students a safety net that help to release some of the pressures of final course examinations, and by making sure all of our students leave with qualifications to equip them for their next steps or careers regardless of their point of entry. This fits with the ethos in our schools of ‘never giving up’ on any student. Always looking for ways that we can give stepping stones to ensure students are prepared for each stage of their lives. This is an exciting new role and one that will be closely aligned with the Head of English, co-ordinators of English and a team of experienced teachers across our sites.

As a teacher the successful candidate will be able to engage and enthuse our pupils and work cooperatively within a diverse team of professionals. We understand that our staff team are at the heart of our success. We have developed a strong culture of collaboration and cooperation with a high regard for personal and professional development. If you feel that you have the ability and drive to enable our students to reach their full potential, joining our school also offers many personal benefits including:

·      A committed and passionate staff team

·      A strong commitment to your continuing professional development and training opportunities

·      Being part of a highly regarded, highly supportive and ambitious school/federation

·      Regular well-being support

·      a supportive environment where your talents will be encouraged, nurtured and rewarded

Kingsmead is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and other vetting procedures including the provision of two good references.
