Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The Role.

We are seeking motivated, customer‑focused, and detail‑oriented individuals to join our enrolment teams during the main enrolment period from August to October 2026.

This is a temporary, hourly paid role (£14.80 per hour) supporting the smooth and efficient enrolment of new and returning learners.

You will help ensure that student data is accurate, funding eligibility is correctly assessed, and all applicants receive a professional and welcoming enrolment experience.

Key Dates

  • Start date: Week commencing 10 August 2026

  • Training: Begins 10 August 2026 (approx. 3 days, possibly more) – attendance is mandatory

  • Candidates must be fully flexible and able to commit until end of September 2026. With occasional evening and weekend working. 

Key responsibilities.

  • Welcome applicants coming into the College centres to enrol and provide enrolment information.

  • Direct applicants to rooms within the enrolment centres and answer queries about the enrolment process both face to face and online.

  • Assist with the management of queues.

  • Assist with the provision of initial assessments for applicants.

  • Provide support for inputting of applications or other enrolment data.

  • Take photographs of learners and generate ID cards.

  • Photocopy/verify scanned documents where required and ensure that supplies of documents and publicity are maintained in the enrolment areas.

  • Provide administrative support as appropriate.

  • Follow up applicants who have not attended/completed the process online, using telephone, email or text messages. 

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent

  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, data entry systems)

  • Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends

  • Experience in a customer-focused environment

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong written, verbal, and numeracy skills

  • Ability to manage data carefully and maintain confidentiality

  • A professional and approachable manner

Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education All employment offers are subject employment checks. These include (some of which are dependent on the role and the individual): Enhanced DBS including Children’s Barred List check, DfE teaching/management Barred List check, on-line searches, overseas criminal record check, evidence of identity and Right to Work in the UK, satisfactory references, confirmation of medical fitness, evidence of relevant qualifications and a check of previous employment history.

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that we advertise our salaries on a range to indicate the trajectory of progression that can be made. Appointments are usually made at the start of the salary range.
