The Education Achievement Service is seeking to appoint or second a highly effective leader to the post of Strategic Lead for Equity and Wellbeing to the school improvement team within the South East Wales consortium. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Equity and Wellbeing strategy, including our focus on outcomes for more able learners challenged by poverty, for the five local authorities comprising the South East Wales Consortium:  Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen. He/she will collaborate with Challenge Advisers and school leaders to ensure the highest possible standards of achievement and, where there is underperformance in teaching and learning, work with leaders to challenge expectations and set targets for improvement.

The EAS is engaged in an exciting and challenging school improvement journey and this post offers a unique opportunity to shape and develop a key priority of the service.  We are looking for:
• an effective leader with a passion and proven record in raising attainment and levels of pupils’ achievement through leadership and learning innovation;
• a strategic thinker with a clear vision for improving leadership across our schools;
• a skilled leader with high expectations of school improvement, strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to staff development based on clear lines of accountability;
• an individual who is effective in self-evaluating their own and others’ work;
• an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and lead teams;
• an accomplished leader who is able to articulate approaches that lead to high quality learning in the classroom and across the school and demonstrate secure understanding of national priorities in learning and development.

Candidates wishing to pursue the secondment option must secure permission from their Governing Body/ Headteacher to be released from their school for the period of the secondment prior to applying.

• arweinydd profiadol a all gyfleu dulliau gweithredu sy'n arwain at ddysgu o ansawdd uchel yn yr ystafell ddosbarth a dangos dealltwriaeth gadarn o flaenoriaethau cenedlaethol ym maes dysgu a datblygu.
