We are looking to support young people who have experienced trauma and challenging situations by forming strong trusting professional relationships to help build their confidence and self esteem. We are looking for people that have taught English as a second language to help aid these young people in their communication and ensuring they feel heard.

Person Specification

  • You will have a Qualified Teaching Status certificate or equivalent. 
  • At least two years teaching experience post NQT.
  • Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way.
  • Experience in supporting young people who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) and/or experience in using and making resources for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
  • Ability and commitment to work in a trauma-informed way. 
  • You will feel confident with students switching between their home language and English. 
  • You will have knowledge of developing learning through play and experiential learning. 
  • You will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student centred way.
  • Already be or willing to register as self-employed.
  • You will have a strong commitment to safeguarding as we do.
  • You will have good professional boundaries and resilience in the face of high stress and emotions.


Role Description

  • Developing strong professional relationships with children and young people. 
  • Understand the importance of a trauma informed approach.
  • Create interest based learning opportunities linked to students targets.
  • Following the guidance in each person's individual risk assessment/student plan to support them to manage their anxiety and behaviour in a positive way and to keep them and others safe.
  • Utilise a range of strategies in supporting the range of additional needs we work with.
