Job overview

The Laurus Trust is a rapidly expanding multi-academy trust with a reputation for outstanding teaching and learning.

We have a strong heritage. Our founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School, has been judged as Outstanding in its last two Ofsted inspections. Gorsey Bank is a high performing primary in Wilmslow and we are also home to the Altius Alliance, a teacher training provider which has been given the top grade by Ofsted. We have seven schools in total across the Trust including a brand new school Didsbury High School which opened in September 2019 and Hazel Grove High School which joined the Trust in September 2019.

This is, therefore, an important stage in the development of The Laurus Trust. With our growth comes the opportunity for talented staff to make their mark.

We are looking for an Estates and Facilities Assistant to join our growing Estates team. The job is physically demanding and will involve working a 37 hour week, on shifts usually of either 6.30am – 3.00pm or 10.30am – 7.00pm Monday to Friday, at Laurus Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle Hulme Primary School (combined site). Some overtime will be necessary to cover for evening and weekend events for which additional payment will be made at the appropriate overtime rates. The successful candidate must have their own transport and be prepared to train as a first aider and will be offered all relevant training for the position.

Permanent, full time and full year position.

Actual Salary:  Scale 3 £18,795 - £19,171

Hours: 37 per week

This is an important appointment for the Trust as you will contribute to a team that provides a high quality service across all of our schools, delivering a positive operational and educational experience for all stakeholders.

We recognise that our non-teaching staff are critical to the success of the Trust. Our new buildings offer an impressive working environment and we are supportive of continuing professional development.

To find out more, and to understand how you will be able to make a significant impact on the success of our schools and students please see the attachments below.

Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) is a non-selective, non-denominational Free School. It opened in September 2018. We currently have a total of 1071 students on roll.

Cheadle Hulme is a pleasant residential suburb on the edge of the Borough of Stockport, eleven miles south of the centre of Manchester. The location enjoys the advantages of proximity to the open countryside of Cheshire and the Peak District and the cultural and sporting activities of a major city.

Our students are housed in a purpose-built building with access to state-of-the-art facilities and overlooking Bruntwood Park, with our Year 11 students progressing to Sixth Forms in the Laurus Trust. We share the same site as Cheadle Hulme Primary School.

In 2023 Laurus Cheadle Hulme achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results with over 70% of students achieving at least a grade 4 standard pass and 61% a strong pass in English and Maths. Our Year 9 students also received phenomenal results in GCSE Spanish. 89% of our Year 9s achieved the gold standard of a grade 5 or better, 79% of students achieved at least a grade 6 or above and 42% of students achieved at least a grade 7 or above. These results far outstrip national Year 11 figures.

The school is run by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education offered by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), based in Stockport. CHHS is a hugely oversubscribed school and has been named as one of the UK’s top-performing schools in The Sunday Times, ranking as the 15th non-denominational comprehensive school in Manchester and the North West in the annual Parent Power Survey for 2022.
