Estates Caretaker (Tower) 

Highbury College are looking for a Caretaker to work shifts in the Tower accommodation for 16 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday), 52 weeks per year.

Caretaking Duties

· To carry out reception duties at student accommodation entrance, deal with enquiries and provide telephone cover in emergencies.

· To carry out locking and unlocking and security checks including keeping keys and records of keys issued (including external gates) to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants.

· To monitor fire alarm, CCTV, and security alarms liaising with the emergency services as required.

· To provide initial response first aid assistance and provide cover to residents outside of normal College operating hours and to liaise with student support services in an emergency situation.

· To move furniture, equipment and machinery including use of handling equipment when necessary.

· Undertake required training applicable to the role.

· To carry out grounds maintenance as directed by the Facilities Manager.

· To report any maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.

Cleaning Duties

· To carry out general cleaning tasks as allocated by the Facilities Manager.

· To maintain cleaning standards as directed by the Facilities Manager.

· To clean areas as directed by the Facilities Manager.

· Undertake required training applicable to the role.

· Post holder will be expected to carry out the role in a discrete, courteous and polite manner.

· To report any cleaning issues to the Cleaning Team Leader/Facilities Manager.
