Job overview

Do you have a commitment to customer care at all times? Are you able to develop positive relationships with staff, students, customers and contractors.? Do you have excellent written and verbal communication skills?

If you have answered yes to these questions then we want to hear from you!

Blackpool Sixth is an outstanding college specialising in 16-19 education, we have an exciting opportunity for an Event and Facilities Coordinator, to join our outstanding Estates team. There are exciting times ahead for the college as we anticipate becoming a member of The Coastal Collaborative Trust in the near future.

This is a permanent full time 37.5 hours per week, all year post and you will play a key role in the daily running and operation of the college including the security and safety of all staff, students and visitors. You will be required to work 5 days per week, shifts will normally be 10:30 to 18:30 hrs. On occasions you may be required to work outside of these times and some flexibility in the hours worked will be expected, this could include some work at the weekends and evenings.

The successful candidate will be required to multitask in a fast paced environment prioritising work as needed and maintaining a focus on the detail. A strong customer first approach is required for both internal and external customers ensuring that the requirements for internal events and external bookings are managed. The safety of all those using the college is a key part of this role which includes supporting the risk assessment process and maintaining accurate records. You may have facilities and customer services experience, though not necessarily in a similar environment. A health and safety qualification and current first aid at work certificate would be an advantage although training will be provided where necessary.

A day in Estates could see you:

  • Liaising with stakeholders in relation to college events and bookings
  • Coordinating the work of others in the department
  • Carrying out site patrols and supporting students
  • Completing administration work in relation to building compliance and health and safety
  • Setting up rooms for events or other tasks that require a team effort (teamwork is a key part of our culture)

We are a high-achieving sixth form, giving our students an excellent springboard to success. We educate the whole student, providing all with excellent teaching and opportunities for growth and personal development. We are recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding sixth form. We are relatively small in size, with just over 2000 students and approximately 200 staff. This means that we are a close and caring community.

We serve the whole Fylde Coast area, which includes Poulton-le-Fylde and Lytham St Annes, as well as Blackpool and the surrounding towns and villages. Blackpool Sixth is a friendly, positive and supportive place to work and is rated Grade One: Outstanding by Ofsted (2009). In 2009, we became one of the first organisations in the country to be awarded the Investors in People Gold Award. Staff are committed to the needs and aspirations of our students and supported by an extensive programme of staff development.

Staff are highly committed to the needs and aspirations of our students. The continued growth in student numbers and planned curriculum developments has enabled the sixth form to invest in new staff and new buildings. The college is designated as a Teaching School in partnership with Hodgson Academy and it's a really exciting time to be part of Blackpool Sixth.

All new staff are offered a thorough induction program; this is supplemented for Newly Qualified Teachers with a comprehensive series of training sessions throughout the academic year. All new staff are allocated a mentor in their probationary year, they are here to offer support and guidance in your new role. It's not just teachers that we develop, both teaching and support staff are involved in an annual programme of staff development, supported by individual performance management reviews and training and development plans.

On top of the internal opportunities staff now also benefit from a wider programme of Continuing Professional Development events which come from being part of the Teaching School Alliance, these include nationally accredited programmes.
