Job overview

The St Marylebone CofE School is seeking to appoint Exam Invigilators to assist during the exam periods, 7th – 21st January, 24th – 28th February, May and June. This role contributes to the smooth, calm and efficient administration of the exams process. Invigilators make a valuable contribution to the success of our students at a crucial phase in their education.  For an experienced candidate a Lead Invigilator responsibility may be available, paid at an enhanced rate.


Duties will include:

• conducting examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and our regulations and instructions. 

• playing a key role in upholding the integrity and security of the examination/assessment process.

• keeping confidential exam question papers and materials secure before, during and after exams.

• identifying candidates and seat candidates according to the required arrangements.

• instructing candidates in the conduct of their exams.

• dealing with candidate questions.

• supervising and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout exams.

• dealing with emergencies or irregularities effectively.

• recording/ reporting any incidents, disruption or irregularities.

• instructing candidates in finishing their exams, collect exam scripts and exam materials.

• undertaking training, update and review sessions as required.

• undertaking, other duties as requested by th Exams Officer.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• be reliable, flexible and readily available during main exam periods.

• have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills.

• work well as part of a team.

• be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in exam rooms.

• be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people.

• have basic IT skills (familiar with use of email, mobile phone messaging etc.)

• experience of invigilation will be an advantage, but is not essential as training in the role and duties of an invigilator will be provided.

The St Marylebone CE School is an all-girls secondary with co-educational sixth form in Westminster, central London. It is affiliated with the Church of England and designated a National Teaching School. Since 2011, St Marylebone has had academy status.

The St Marylebone CE School welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, races, cultures, faiths and genders.   The School actively promotes diversity and inclusion across its community and our students come from a wide range of backgrounds: 40% of our students speak English as an additional language; 59% of our students come from backgrounds other than white British.

The secondary school is located next to St Marylebone Parish Church and is a short walk from Regent’s Park. The sixth-form facilities are based in nearby Blandford Street. St Marylebone was founded in 1791 and it carries the motto "An opportunity to excel". There are currently around 1,100 students, 300 of whom are in the sixth form.
