Exam Season 2026 – May / June

We are seeking to appoint Exam Invigilators to be part of our team to assist in the smooth running of internal and external examinations. This role would work very well for someone looking for employment that doesn't require a big commitment of time.

Candidates must be available during the summer exam period which is normally from May to the end of June. For the 2026 exam season we are looking for candidates who have availability for the whole period (7 May to 19 June), with the below dates as a priority:

May Dates
Monday 11 May (AM), Tuesday 12 May (PM), Thursday 14 May (AM and PM), Friday 15 May (AM), Monday 18 May (AM), Tuesday 19 May (AM), Thursday 21 May (AM) and Friday 22 May (AM).

June Dates
Tuesday 2 June, (AM), Wednesday 3 June, (AM and PM), Thursday 4 June (AM and PM), Friday 5 June (AM), Monday 8 June (AM), Tuesday 9 June (AM), Wednesday 10 June (AM), Thursday 11 June (AM and PM), Friday 12 June (AM), Monday 15 June (AM) and Thursday 18 June (PM).

Typical working hours will vary between 3-8 hours per day across either a morning, afternoon or both. The examination schedule is drawn up in advance and invigilator availability is taken into consideration as part of the scheduling.

Previous experience is not necessary as full training will be given. The role of invigilator involves supervision of students in the examination room, ensuring compliance with required standards, the issue/collection of examination papers and any other general administrative duties as required.

Applicants should be reliable, have good attention to detail and be able to communicate well with students and colleagues. A professional attitude, integrity and authority are essential, and a good standard of literacy and numeracy is required.

You must complete our application form via our recruitment portal to be considered for the role.

Reading School is an amazing place to study and work. Our School was founded in 1125 and, through its 900-year history, we have provided world-leading education to tens of thousands of students. With this rich heritage and depth of tradition, it should be no surprise that our academic reputation is second to none. Our Year 13 students are consistently awarded A* to B grades in more than 90% of their A-Level entries, and those sitting GCSEs regularly achieve the very top grades in more than 85% of their courses.

This is not what matters to us most though. We consider these outcomes a necessary, but insufficient measure of a student's education. Education is much more than grades, and learning is much more than retaining information. Education is the business of hope. It sustains society, nurtures culture, inspires innovation and enables the best in humanity.

Education matters, because people matter.

At Reading School, in all we do, we therefore seek to nurture curiosity, inspire service and build character. We promote honesty and community as well as excellence and leadership. We encourage our students to find resilience at the bottom of the ruck, humility on the podium, delight when encountering difference, patience when practice is tough and integrity when no-one is watching.

As a school of character, we believe that your actions can and will make a difference to you and others. We are a values-based organisation that focuses on growth and development. Our core values underpin everything that we do and our staff, both teaching and associate, role model these values.

If you are thinking about joining our team you can find out why it might be the right fit for you. Our team is proud to make a positive impact and strives to put values in to action – excellence, integrity, leadership and community.
