Job overview

We are looking to recruit highly committed and enthusiastic Exam Readers & Scribes to assist students during both external and internal examinations as and when required throughout the school year.

A reader is responsible for reading the examination paper accurately to the student. Readers must read only the instructions or questions on the exam paper and must not explain or clarify questions.

A scribe is responsible for providing an accurate and legible handwritten record from the personal dictation of a student in examinations. Scribes may be asked to draw diagrams and read back material to the student on a one-to-one basis. A scribe should be able to write legibly and at a reasonable speed.

The ideal candidate will:

·        Be flexible

·        Be reliable

·        Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills

·        Be a team player and happy to share good practice

·        Have high expectations of the students

Knowledge of school examinations procedures would be beneficial but full training will be given.

Mercia Academy in Derbyshire is situated in Newhall, Swadlincote and has approximately 600 students, aged 11-16, on roll. The Academy is currently part of the Lionheart Educational Trust.
