Job overview

The Kingston Academy is a high-performing, inclusive secondary school founded in 2015. Today we educate over 1,400 pupils from Year 7 through to Sixth Form and are proud to serve our diverse and vibrant community.

In 2025, we were recognised as one of the Top 10 best non-selective state schools in the UK based on GCSE outcomes, reflecting our strong culture of aspiration, exceptional teaching, and commitment to every child’s success. The school was also named among the Top 50 happiest schools in the UK in Ofsted’s official wellbeing survey — a testament to the positive relationships, high standards of behaviour and supportive environment that underpin our ethos.

We are proudly inclusive, with a specialist resource provision (SRP) for pupils whose primary need is Autism Spectrum Condition, ensuring that all young people are able to learn, thrive and belong.

Our commitment extends not only to pupils but also to the people who work with them every day. We are dedicated to attracting, retaining and sustaining an expert workforce through high-quality talent development, ensuring that our staff are skilled, motivated and well supported. By investing in professional learning, coaching, wellbeing and leadership pathways, we ensure that our teachers can flourish — and that our students benefit from consistently excellent teaching.

We invite applications from candidates with the following attributes for this role:

  • Be able to work effectively both on your own, and within a team.

  • Have excellent attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Be reliable, punctual and an excellent role model.

Benefits of working at The Kingston Academy:

  • Generous pay-scales, regularly paying 1% higher than National Support Staff Pay Scales;

  • Work in a vibrant, supportive school environment where staff wellbeing is prioritised.

The Kingston Academy is an ambitious and outstanding new mixed, mainstream secondary school located in a newly renovated traditional school building and significant, state-of-the-art new extension in Kingston upon Thames, near to the River Thames.

The Kingston Academy was established in 2015 by the Kingston Educational Trust, a partnership between Kingston University, Kingston College and the Royal Borough of Kingston.   The school initially opened with a single cohort of Year 7 pupils and has grown every year with an additional year group. It will eventually comprise all year groups including a Sixth Form in 2021-22.

The school's first full Ofsted inspection took place in May 2018 and the resulting report declared the school to be outstanding in all categories with no areas identified as needing improvement.

The announcement of the new cohort for September 2019 revealed the school to be heavily oversubscribed, drawing from a catchment area of less than 1km from the school.

Values and vision

The Kingston Academy has an ethos of inclusion, where all are welcomed and every individual is valued for who they are and what they can bring to the school. The focus on learning and communication is powered by a STEM-focused curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The secondary school helps to build a strong sense of identity, encouraging students to be global citizens and to value their place in the wider world. Teachers are offered continuing professional development, which allows them to keep up with new technologies and best practices.

'Teaching successfully challenges all groups of pupils to aim high and achieve their best.' Ofsted, June 2018
