Job overview

As an Examination Invigilator, you will be involved in the essential administration and supervision of examinations as directed by the Examinations Manager. You will be responsible for upholding Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) Regulations ensuring a fair and secure testing environment. This is a flexible role with hours varying depending on the examination schedule. You will need to be available for morning examinations (starting 8am) and/or afternoon examinations (starting 12 noon or 12:30pm). This is an excellent opportunity for highly organised individuals who want a flexible commitment within the school year.

Who You Will Work With
You will primarily work closely with our experienced Exams Manager and our dedicated team of invigilators. You will receive clear direction and support from the Exams Manager and collaborate effectively with your invigilator colleagues to ensure seamless exam execution.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Examination Supervision and Compliance

  • Start, conduct and finish the examination precisely in accordance with the regulations.

  • Maintain the security of examination papers and candidate scripts at all times.

  • Supervise candidates with due vigilance during the examination ensuring a calm environment.

  • Issue the regulatory notices to candidates at the start of the examination.

  • Ensure students do not leave the examination room.

  • Collect completed scripts after the examination has ended, ensuring they are collected in order by candidate number, and return them to the designated person.

  • Check that the arrangements of the examination room remain in compliance with JCQ regulations.

Procedure and Reporting

  • Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies and examination regulations.

  • Refer to the Examination Manager immediately if it is suspected that malpractice is taking place.

  • Report back as appropriate using the agreed referral procedures on any issues or irregularities arising.

  • Assist with administration as requested by the Examinations Manager.

Supporting the School

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection health and safety security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

  • Contribute positively to the overall ethos work and mission of the school.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A reliable and punctual approach to work.

  • The ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere strictly to formal regulations (JCQ).

  • A commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and security.

  • Demonstrate patience and professionalism when interacting with students.

  • Be available flexibly during peak examination periods (e.g. January, February, May and June).

The Bulmershe School is a heavily oversubscribed school which sits at the heart of the Woodley community. We are a mixed, Corvus Learning Trust Academy school of students aged between 11 and 18, who come from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
