Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of two to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded as a private school in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990, the whole School has been situated in La Moraleja, a residential estate 13 km to the north of Madrid.

Academic levels are high at Runnymede College. In June 2021, 74% of our students achieved A-A* at A level, which meant two of our pupils gained places at Oxford, two at St Andrews, three at LSE, four at Imperial College, five at Bath and nine at UCL. Four of this year’s graduates are going on to study at the United States: one at Columbia, one at Pennsylvania and two at Boston University. Most of our graduates choose to study in the UK, Spain or the US, although other destinations such as France, Switzerland and the Netherlands are also considered.

The school is looking for a meticulously organised native level English speaking Examinations Officer and University Coordinator for an immediate start. 

This role is split into two parts: 

Examinations Officer - Responsibilities include: 

  • Adhering to strict exam policies as outlined by various UK exam boards 
  • Managing the examination entry process and ensuring deadlines are met (First Certificate, IGCSE’s, A Levels, IELTS, university admissions tests, SATs, etc) 
  • Check exam codes and options are correct.
  • Coordinate with SENCO to ensure all arrangements are made for students who need extra time or special arrangements, such as laptops.
  • Managing the examination process and acting as school invigilator for public exams 
  • Managing examination days according to exam board regulations (preparation of exam rooms, training invigilators, ensuring students follow regulations, acting as the “go to” person for any problem)
  • Hire, train and supervise invigilation staff. Host a training session with all invigilators every 12 months.
  •  Receive all necessary exam papers and materials prior to exams and ensure secure storage. Test CDs for listening exams.
  • Ensure exam spaces follow guidelines and are appropriately equipped (distances between and number of desks, iPods for languages, air con, soundproofing, working clocks and printers, equipment and signs for boards, exam warning posters).
  •  Send off all exam scripts, memory cards, coursework and independent investigations.
  • Managing physical and electronic examination scripts/documentation with the strictest confidentiality, discretion and security (includes storing and sending physical documentation in a secure manner) 
  • Ensure all registrations and logins are issued to students.
  • Managing examination results and dealing with post results services. Submit requests for remarks and manage results, passing them on to students and updating records.
  • Issuing examination certificates
  • Liaising with students, teachers and parents to provide guidance with regard to public exams 
  • Helping with any other ad hoc exams as required
  • Updating the school information system. Data input of results from external exams (and some internal grades). Spreadsheets of exam results.
  • Send moderator reports to Curriculum Manager and HODs. Inform Curriculum Manager and HODs of any information on exams.

University Coordinator - Responsibilities include: 

  • Assisting final year students with international University applications and administration (personal statements, UCAS systems, grade transcripts, etc.)
  • Communicate with Management and Heads of VI Form to coordinate references and predicted grades.
  • Manage data regarding applications and offers.
  • Complete data input of university destinations and courses.
  • Researching University courses to ensure knowledge is up to date 
  • Providing career guidance for final year students and discuss options
  • Communicating with international Universities as required
  • USA - Manage all administrative aspects of the Common App, including submission of Grade Transcripts and the Counsellor Letter of Recommendation.
  • SPAIN - Manage administrative aspects of the Spanish university application system
  • Organising and/or assisting with University visits, universities/careers fair
  • Supporting students throughout the university applications process

The successful applicant will:        

  • have a good honours degree from a British University                
  • be a native level English speaker and will preferably have previous experience in a similar role. Ideally they will be familiar with the UK Exams and University systems.
  • be organised and able to prioritise to meet deadlines        
  • be able to cope with stressful situations, deadlines and be able develop trusted relationships with the students. An approachable, friendly manner is a must. 
  • be able to work on a Mac computer and be able to use Microsoft Excel with ease.
  • previous experience of an international school is preferable but not essential
