Alston Moor Federation is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Exams Officer to support pupil achievement through the smooth running of public and internal examinations and assessments, including being part of strategic planning as well as the day to day management of the examinations cycle (e.g. administration, entries). Whilst this will be the main role, we would expect the post-holder to support the Senior Teacher (i/c data and assessment) at other times, in his role with analysis and the production of reports.

There is the potential to expand the role to incorporate the role of Access Arrangement Assessor, where there will be an opportunity for training, and salary will be negotiable.

Alston Moor Federation comprises the three schools which serve the communities on Alston Moor, and includes Samuel King’s School, Alston Primary School and Nenthead Primary School. This post will require you to work across the Federation, supporting the schools with GCSE exams and SATS assessments. We are a friendly and supportive workplace. You will be joining a team of people who are very good at their jobs, work hard, but know how to look after each other and enjoy being together.

If you are interested in applying, please complete the application form, and include a letter (no more than 2 sides of A4) explaining why you are interested in this role, and what you can offer to the children of Alston Moor Federation as our new exams officer.

Electronic applications are fully acceptable and these should be emailed to head@alston.cumbria.sch.uk marked for the attention of Mrs Pamela Seaton, our business manager.

If you wish to be considered for this role, the closing date for applications is Friday 21st April 2023. (midday). If you have not heard from us by Friday 28th April 2023, please assume your application has been unsuccessful.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to attend an interview, date to be confirmed.

Application packs are available at https://www.alstonmoorfederation.org.uk/vacancies

Alston Moor Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks which will include an enhanced DBS check, along with two satisfactory references.

Values and Vision

The small size of the school is one of the things making it unique, a factor which the school describes as “a real alternative to the ever growing factory-like secondary schools that have mushroomed in recent years”. It is a safe and encouraging school that provides its students with a varied and valuable education.

Despite having no sixth form college, it has links with sixth form colleges in the area to help students have a smooth transition into further education.

Ofsted

“The very large majority of parents are pleased with the quality of education the school provides. They rightly value the good personal support given to students and recognised that students feel safe at school. Students are given good advice and support, which enables them to make well informed choices about the next stage of their education, training and employment. Students make good progress in French, dance and drama.”
