Values and vision

Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College has a great reputation for its relationships with students, staff, parents and governors. The aim of the school is to ensure that students have high expectations of their own behaviour and academic achievements, supported by a similar positive attitude from staff members. Pupils are encouraged to believe in their own abilities, be that academic and creative or athletic and vocational.

The curriculum is wide-ranging and further enhanced by extracurricular opportunities. These can include sports clubs such as football, basketball and trampolining, or chess club, IT club and orchestra, with catch-up sessions outside normal school hours to prevent students from falling behind.

Ofsted report

“Pupils are smartly dressed, polite and friendly. Many behave well within their lessons, at break and at lunchtime. The interim headteacher has had a positive impact within a short period of time. Individual teachers often go the ‘extra mile’ to make sure that pupils are well cared for and supported in school. Some students experience high-quality learning experiences, particularly within art and photography.”
