Including working 2 out of 5 INSET days each academic year as directed by the school, with availability to work any or all of the remaining 3 INSET days at short notice should the need arise, and for which additional payment will be made

£21,589 – £23,836 (Pro-rata salary £19,513 - £21,544)

(plus an additional 1 week of pay if the appointee has 5 years or more continuous service with the Local Authority)

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Examinations Support Officer, who, reporting to the Timetable and Data Assessment Officer, will be responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of all examinations; this will include external, internal and online tests for Y7 to Y13 students as well as younger students in our junior academies.  Duties will include all administrative aspects of examination support, ensuring all legislative and procedural changes from examination boards are implemented effectively, co-ordination of a team of casual invigilators, and contributing to general operational day to day requirements.

The Examinations Support Officer will ideally have experience of working in a similar role, however, training will be provided.  This is an exciting role and is seen as a key appointment in developing the progress of students within the academy. 

 You will be: 

  • able to work alongside the Timetable and Data Assessment Officer to ensure all examinations , arrangements are implemented successfully
  • able to effectively and efficiently manage and deploy a team of invigilators and resources 
  • committed to promoting positive values, attitudes and behaviour, and equality of opportunity for all
  • able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and students across the academy and wider trust

 * The role is based at Aston Academy but is likely to involve working at other academies within the trust. 

** There will be a requirement on occasions to work outside of regular hours and due to the specific demands of examinations, the length or hours of the working day may vary as needed.

Aston Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Swallownest, Sheffield. It is supported by the multi-academy Aston Community Education Trust, which provides specialist staff and expertise for three secondary schools and nine Junior. Aston is a larger than the average-sized secondary, Aston Academy provides 1,800 places for students aged 11-18, when fully subscribed.

Aston Community Education Trust was formed in May 2011 when Aston Academy, previously known as Aston Comprehensive School, converted to academy status.
