Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning & Accrington & Rossendale College. We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Exams Co-ordinator to join our Exams team on a full-time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. This role will be based at Lancashire Adult Learning (Brierfield) but travel across any of the College campuses may be required.



The main duties include:

• To support the Exams Team Leader in the organisation, co-ordination and administration of the exam’s functions relating to all college provision (to include apprenticeship, vocational, A level/GCSE and Lancashire Adult Learning (LAL)

• To support the Exams Team Leader to develop and sustain excellent working relationships with curriculum and cross college areas enabling the delivery of an effective and quality service across the organisation

• To support the assurance that returns for external examinations and registrations for the provision detailed above are completed appropriately and within the timescales set by the exam boards

• To attend and pro-actively contribute to regular team meetings and the development of processes to ensure standardisation and consistency enabling the delivery of a quality service


The ideal candidate will have:

• 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C above or experience to demonstrate this level of knowledge

• Level 3 qualification or higher (highly desirable) 

• Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with Awarding Bodies with regards to compliance and adhering to deadlines. 

• Excellent diverse working knowledge of various Awarding Body processes (eg NCFE, AQA, City and Guilds, Pearson)

• Experience of successfully co-ordinating and planning exams relating to diverse provision or projects

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
