Job overview

Latymer Upper School is one of the leading independent co-educational schools in the UK with over 1100 highly able and academically ambitious students.  Our school is very popular and achieves extremely high academic results.  We are currently expanding our team of invigilators to assist with the smooth running and security of examinations. We have opportunities for responsible and reliable people with excellent communication and organisational skills to work for either whole or part day sessions, some of which may finish after 4pm. You will be responsible for ensuring the examinations held in the school are run in accordance with strict regulations.

You will need to be energetic, flexible in working hours and committed to supporting students at a stressful time. Previous experience of similar duties would be an advantage, but is not essential as training will be given on joining the team and regular refresher meetings are held throughout the year.

Shifts are offered an ad-hoc basis depending on the exam timetables, with the majority of work being offered in May and June every year. There will also be some sessions offered in January, the second half of February, late April and early September.

We offer a competitive rate of pay and a free lunch for staff working a full day.

To apply, find out more about the school, the department and our attractive staff benefits package, please visit our website and view the section “Join our Team”.

Closing date: 9am, Tuesday 21st February 2023.

Interview date: Friday 3rd March 2023

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role, therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible

Diversity – The School is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. We have an established and representative staff Equality and Diversity Board to help drive forward positive change. A further Equality and Diversity Committee has recently been formed from our student population.

We are committed to attracting and retaining the very best staff, ensuring that our staff body reflects the diversity of our students and local community. Acknowledging a lack of ethnic diversity within our staff community, we particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates for this role. All appointments will be made on merit, following a fair and transparent process. In line with the Equality Act 2010, however, the School may.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS and online check and receipt of two satisfactory references.

Welcome to Latymer Upper School. We are a vibrant, forward-thinking and co-educational independent secondary school in West London. Established in 1624 by the generosity of Edward Latymer and located in Hammersmith since 1895, the School upholds its founding principles of generosity and educational excellence.

With around 1,400 students, the success of our Inspiring Minds campaign started by the Latymer Foundation in 2017, means that by the end of our 400th year, we will be in a position to offer one in four students a bursary.

Latymer Upper School is at the forefront of education reform and from 2027, our bespoke Middle School curriculum will replace traditional GCSEs. This innovative approach will develop critical thinking, resilience, collaboration, creativity and problem-solving, preparing them for the independent learning required at A-level. Our students go on to secure places at prestigious universities including Oxbridge, North American and European institutions and are well set for success in the modern workplace.

We foster a welcoming and cosmopolitan environment and our commitment to individualised education ensures that Latymerians are not only highly academic but also well-rounded, grounded individuals.

We are also really proud to have teachers who help raise generations of young people to be passionate about their learning, students who support each other and a network of loyal Latymerian alumni.

To find out more about our School and our ambitions for Curriculum Reform, please visit our website and consider joining a community dedicated to inspiring minds and transforming lives.
