Salary: £23,076 - £25,506 pro rata (£25,628 - £28,326 FTE)

Hours: 37.5hrs per week - Term time only plus 1 additional week. 

Contract type: Permanent

Reporting to: Assistant Headteacher 

Responsible for: Effective management of the school assessment cycle, to include the public examination series. 


Main purpose

You will be responsible for the efficient and effective running of the administration of all internal and external examinations within school, including liaising with staff, students, invigilators and examination boards.


Key Duties

  • Ensure that Curriculum Leaders and the Senior Leadership Group are kept informed of all correspondence/ publications of a general or specific nature which are received from the Examination Boards.
  • Act as liaison between Curriculum Leaders and Awarding Boards over syllabus requirements, exam entries, results queries, issues relating to individual needs of students.
  • Develop and operate systems which will ensure the accurate collection, collation and checking of external examination entries.
  • Ensure the school is at all times compliant with the JCQ regulations and communicate changes to regulations to SLT. 
  • Ensure that all examination entries and amendments, where necessary, and special access arrangements are submitted in the appropriate format and by the required deadlines. To maintain all associated records.
  • To organise the examination timetables for mock exams and GCSE public exams.
  • Communicate effectively to students, staff and parents about upcoming exams and the schools expectations around these.
  • Issue individual timetables to pupils when entries are confirmed.
  • Plan the use of rooms/ equipment/ resources in response to the regulations / requirements of the Examination Boards.
  • Manage, train and direct a team of Invigilators, ensuring adequate staffing in-line with Awarding Board regulations.
  • To be part of the interview process to appoint invigilators and through the guidance of the Head’s PA, ensure that all staff involved in the invigilation of exams have been checked in accordance with HR policies.
  • To contribute to the administrative support within the school.

Bohunt Farnborough is a mainstream, non-selective, community state secondary for girls and boys aged 11-16. The school is located in Farnborough, Hampshire and has good transport links via the M3 and A331.
