Executive Business Manager

Band 5 Senior Management

  • Do you have exceptional communication and organisation skills?
  • Do you enjoy coming up with solutions to often complex issues?
  • Do you have the skills to work with and influence a wide-range of people?
  • Do you want to shape an exceptional service for our schools, in an exciting and developing context, where no two days are the same?
  • Are you ready for the next step in your career?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

We wish to appoint a well-qualified, capable, enthusiastic and highly motivated Executive Business Manager to lead and supervise our support services across the five schools in our Cambridge Cluster. You will also offer trusted strategic advice to each of our Headteachers as they look to develop the unique strengths of each school, with the support a collaborative cluster can provide.

You will be attracted to the long term project of growing our schools, in popularity and resources, but also in their strengths and distinctiveness. Equally, you will be excited by the fast pace of working in our schools. Working closely with our Executive Principal, you will help to support the schools and meet their individual requirements and be a key figure in forming our plans for the future, working with leaders, governors and our academy trust, United Learning.

You will relish the opportunity to develop our Cluster within the context of United Learning, the largest academy group in the country, making the most of the opportunities of the resources and expertise available to us.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate sound financial planning and budgetary control, adept leadership skills and be able to make sure that the Cluster remains forward-thinking and outward-looking.

This is a wide ranging role with overall responsibility for the teams that make up our support services across the Cluster. The ideal candidate will not be required to be an expert in every function but have the ability to work well in a variety of contexts and to lead diverse teams of specialists in their areas. The success and growth of the Cluster over the next few years will impact on this role giving an exciting opportunity for development moving forwards.

You will oversee managers and teams in the following areas:

  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Site/facilities management and Health and Safety
  • Marketing and student numbers, including Admissions
  • Information Technology
  • Compliance
  • Data Management and Examinations
  • Adult Education within the wider community

You will also be responsible for ensuring best value from functions which are contracted out to other providers including catering, cleaning and grounds.

This unique role offers the opportunity to shape the development of the business offer to our schools in Cambridge, leading and developing teams of skilled and qualified business support staff and making a tangible impact on the lives of young people. In return you will receive a strong commitment to your professional development (including access to specialist leadership training via the Apprenticeship Levy to Level 7), a dynamic working environment, a range of employee benefits and a competitive salary.

For more information please see our Applicant Pack, Job Description and Person Specification. To arrange an informal conversation with the Executive Principal, prior to application, please follow the instructions in the Applicant Pack.

United Learning

Cambridge Academy Partnership joined United Learning lately, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

About United Learning Cambridge Cluster

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

The Cambridge cluster of United Learning comprises: three secondary schools - Coleridge, Parkside and Trumpington; The Galfrid, a primary school; and Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, a specialist 13-19 academy. We work closely together to realise our goal of ensuring the best possible education for our students.

Staff collaborate across the cluster to ensure the schools bring out the best in everyone. We have a shared team of support staff with a focus on delivering excellent services. Our community benefits from access to specialist facilities across the schools, while our combined extra curricular offer promotes our commitment to education with character.

Our staff tell us that they think our cluster provides a great community to work in and to develop their career - within the wider United Learning group we aim to offer you unrivalled professional development and the opportunity to work as part of a team where your contribution is really valued.
