We have also achieved the top accolade in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), published on the 22nd June by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Better Futures Multi-Academy Trust (BFMAT) is an exciting new development recently established by Coventry University Group, who are the Trust sponsors. As an educational innovator we have established BFMAT to extend our belief in educational excellence. BFMAT will work principally with sixth form colleges and our aim is that it will become a national beacon for excellence. We will use our network of HE campuses across England to help provide excellence service and support to member academies and create a powerful network of excellent teaching.

The BFMAT, as a single legal entity, will have overarching responsibility for the governance of its member academies, both colleges and schools, although they will operate with a high degree of autonomy that preserves and enhances their unique identity. Our ethos is very student focussed and our vision for this is widening participation and broadening the life chances of our students by providing excellent educational provision and a sound preparation for working life. The aim of the Better Futures Multi-Academy Trust is, “To transform the futures of young people through excellence, innovation and opportunity”.

We are seeking to appoint an Executive Director who will lead the Trust and provide growth and development in line with the strategic objectives and accountability frameworks agreed by the Trust’s Directors. You will provide strategic vision and inspirational leadership to establish BFMAT, developing and monitoring the business plan. Embedded within this will be an effective corporate environment that allows the Trust and its constituent academies to achieve excellence. You will be expected to uphold the values of BFMAT and act as an ambassador for BFMAT and Coventry University Group in enhancing the profile of BFMAT with internal and external stakeholders.

Educated to postgraduate level or holding equivalent professional qualifications, you will be a proven leader with a deep appreciation of academic activities. We will seek to appoint an Executive Director of Education with whom you will work closely to develop the Trust. Your strategic leadership at senior level in an educational setting will be backed up by your demonstrable success in building effective partnerships and links with DfE and RSCs to maximise networks and opportunities.

A superb communicator with a high level of interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills, you will understand the UK HE landscape in particular as it relates to Academies and the “Schools that Work for Everyone” proposals. Your ability to communicate with the Trust Board, Academy Leaders and other key influencers will ensure promotion and development of the Trust’s vision.
