The Governing Board of The Kingsmead and Newton’s Walk School are seeking to appoint an inspirational executive headteacher with the skills and ability to lead our very unique schools. This is a really exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the life chances of vulnerable young people. Part of our vision is that we never give up on a young person; we will appoint a head that subscribes to that vision.

Our current head is retiring having very successfully led the schools to an extremely strong position. We seek an innovative head to lead our talented and committed team of staff and secure future improvements.

Our provision is made up of:

  • KS3-4 PRU and Special school – Social Emotional and Mental Health SEMH (Kingsmead School) some 200 young people, over five bases in the city.
  • KS1-2 PRU (Newton’s Walk) some 30 pupils in one base.


All bases are within five miles of each other

The executive head must be able to command respect in our schools and the wider city and county community we serve. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential.
