Job overview

The States of Guernsey is embarking on an exciting journey to restructure secondary education in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. The current four secondary schools, one of which is presently a selective 11-18 school, will move towards an all ability 11-18 school operating on two sites. Two of the existing four school sites will be developed to provide new facilities to create larger schools offering comprehensive education.

This is a new role in which we are looking for a dynamic Executive Headteacher to lead the transformation of secondary education in the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the Channel Islands.

The vision is to create a new school system that will enable all young people to achieve their potential and provide the very best educational experience for our learners. The role demands an inspirational and visionary leader who has excellent communication skills and who can forge strong relationships with other leaders across the organisation, with staff and with learners, to drive forward our agenda for change. Once established, you will be responsible for the management of the school, ensuring it achieves its strategic aims and objectives.

In the short term, you will manage the four Headteachers who currently work within the secondary phase and be responsible for the operational management and development of the four secondary schools.

We offer a generous relocation package for successful applicants who are required to move their place of residence as a consequence of taking up post.

If this sounds like the next step in your career and one where you can make a real impact, then go to gov.gg/executiveheadteacher today.

You can also contact Gus Paterson, Chief Secretary of the Office of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture for further information on 01481 733012/07839 299066 or email: gus.paterson@gov.gg

Closing date: Wednesday 9th May 2018.

Interview date: w/c 21st May 2018.
