This exciting position presents twin opportunities for an exceptional candidate. Firstly you will be required to fulfil the role of Headteacher of Hacton Primary School and secondly, to act as the Executive Director of Empower Learning Academy Trust's developing primary hub.

This exciting position will require you to build on the enduring success of the school to maintain its "Outstanding" status and its strong ethos whilst nudging it forward to address the challenges that lie ahead in the broader educational landscape.

The Executive Director function is a system leadership role, working closely with the Trust's CEO to attract local primary schools into the Trust and support other headteachers with their school improvement journeys so that their schools best serve the pupils and communities in which they sit. The successful candidate will need to believe in and help deliver the Trust's vision for education in and around Havering.

Most likely you will be a current headteacher, able to demonstrate the impact of your leadership on the improvement journey of the school (s) you had led. Evidence of working with schools beyond your own institution in order to improve the quality of education they deliver would be a strong advantage. You will be personable with children and adults and a dynamic, engaging leader able to motivate others and distribute leadership effectively. Hacton Primary School was graded Outstanding" by Ofsted in 2015 and became part of the Empower Learning Academy Trust (ELAT) in September 2018 to become the lead school within the Trust's soon to be formed Primary Hub. The school also has a specially resources hearing impaired unit. The current Headteacher has led the school so sustained excellence over 16 years and has undertaken extensive groundwork for the Primary Hub. Having led the school into the Trust to help secure his legacy, he intends to retire at the end of this academic year.

ELAT is a small, local trust with strong values. We believe that teaching really can be transformational for students' lives. Our Teaching School and our focused school improvement support show evidence that we "walk the talk".  The headteacher will benefit from the support of our CEO who is a National Leader of Education.

  • Deadline for applications:  Monday 1st April 2019 at 12:00pm
  • Short-listing will take place on  Tuesday 2nd April 2019.
  • Interviews will be held on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th April 2019.
