Job overview
Hours: Full time, flexible working arrangements would be considered.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our successful and growing Multi Academy Trust.
We have the opportunity for an existing Headteacher to join the Maritime Education team and lead two schools as an Executive Headteacher.
Maritime Academy Trust is a group of twelve primary academies operating across Greenwich, Bexley, Kent & Medway. We are passionate about breaking barriers for children and helping them realise they are capable of incredible things. We expect the same of ourselves - thinking outside the box and achieving creativity through problem-solving. We are relentlessly focused on building a brilliant organisation to help build a solid start in life for every single one of our pupils.
As a Maritime Executive Headteacher in North Greenwich you will directly lead two schools (Timbercroft and Millennium), as well as lead the school improvement and collaborative work between four Maritime Hub schools.
The right candidate for Maritime will be an excellent ‘people person’ (organisational culture is vital to us) and ‘gets’ the power of genuine collaboration. You will have had experience of successful school leadership and working with more than one school and understand the unique challenges that come along with that. You will have a passion for school improvement, and a desire for achieving Excellent Education Outcomes.
You will be a great leader and a great coach, and you’ll set an example for what it means to be part of a learning organisation. You will be a supporter, a champion and a capacity-builder. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
In return we can offer you:-
- A team of like minded people
- An exciting vision for children and their experience of school
- Competitive Salary
- Work alongside a strong Executive Team for collaborative school improvement

Maritime Academy Trust is an exciting and innovative partnership of primary schools located in Greenwich, Bexley, Kent and Medway. Our schools have transformed through targeted collaboration, innovative ideas and a curriculum which equips children with leadership and life skills.
Maritime was created around an idea, that education should be meaningful, children should love learning and that everyone who works with us should feel they make an impact.
We want to develop children who are happy, resilient and confident to give things a go. Children who are getting memorable experiences, in fantastic schools and classrooms. We can help them achieve outstanding results to set them up for the next stage in their lives by having dynamic teachers and support staff who love their work and working together. We want to work with like-minded people who share our vision and values and believe that every child is entitled to a phenomenal education.
Here at the Maritime Academy Trust, we are always looking to grow our teams with talented people to achieve our vision, which is to empower schools with the means to drive more meaningful and enjoyable outcomes for children.
The Maritime Central team is a core Central Services function that supports our schools with Finance, HR, Governance and raising educational standards. We are a small, but highly capable team, that strive to deliver the best possible generalist support to the Trust at all times.
As a Central team we work closely together, collaborating on envisioning new ways to improve our service, troubleshoot problems as well as learning from each other. We are passionate about staff well-being and offer blended working opportunities, enjoying weekly team games on a Wednesday and social activities.
If you are looking for a place to start a new career or develop an existing career, then Maritime may be the place for you. In return we will provide you with a friendly and supportive working environment and give you the opportunity to try new things. We want the people we employ to be highly skilled and motivated and for that reason we offer a comprehensive programme of CPD.
