The Governors of Stratford School Academy are seeking the school’s next Executive Headteacher.
Stratford School Academy, located near to the Olympic Park in East London, has a long-established tradition of independence. We are an 11-16 standalone academy with a resourced provision for children with autism. The school operates as two mini schools running in parallel.
Our Executive Headteacher, Andrew Seager, is retiring after 15 years. His last day of employment will be the 31st December 2019.
Stratford School Academy has a long-established tradition of independence and we are content with our status as a single school academy trust and have no plans to change this status. The school is financially secure and the new Headteacher should not find themselves needing to make difficult financial decisions.
We are proud of our reputation in our local community as a high-achieving, inclusive school where all students are valued. We have a resourced provision for children with autism and are proud of our work with children with Special Educational Needs.
Stratford is a genuinely interesting school. The mini-school concept (a large school divided into two smaller identical schools run parallel) is still unusual - although we are hearing of other schools considering the same approach. Providing an academic curriculum and having an inclusive approach to education is not an either/or for us – we do both. Teaching is largely to mixed attainment groups and we use a highly structured approach to schemes of work, lessons planning, marking and assessment which is more common in Shanghai than in England. Finally, we emphasise educational research when designing the school’s systems and procedures.
The person we appoint will find a supportive, well-informed Board of Governors who are committed to the school.
You will find more information about the school on our website. The application form, job description and person specification are on the Jobs page of our website
