Job overview

Group 6, Leadership L29 – L35

Are you a motivated and outstanding professional with a passionate belief in the value of special needs education? Do you have clear vision and the ability to lead and inspire others? Are you looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to be innovative and work successfully with a range of different stakeholders?

Fountains Community Special Schools is a federation that encompasses both high and primary special schools. Located in Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire, Fountains also incorporates its own purpose built Early Years Centre and a dynamic and forward-thinking Sixth Form.

The Fountains Schools are generic special schools providing for a wide range of special educational needs. The needs of our children and young people include moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties. We also provide education and learning for a number of children and young people on the autistic spectrum.

Fountains provides high quality teaching and learning designed to empower our young people to achieve their full potential, maximise their independence and lead full and rewarding lives.

Assessed as ‘Good’ by OFSTED in 2013 we are now awaiting inspection. The Governors and staff are actively preparing for this and also considering the different options for the transformation to an academy. If ever there was an exciting time to join Fountains, then this is it!

We are looking for someone who will:

  • possess the ability to operate and think strategically in the development and implementation of the School aims and vision
  • have a proven track record of raising achievement and improving teaching and learning
  • further develop the effective use of data to raise attainment and improve intervention
  • demonstrate exceptional inter-personal skills and be able to build effective relationships with stakeholders
  • control the budget, with oversight from the Governing Body, ensuring that both schools remain financially robust.

What we can offer you:

  • an organisation with a strong ethos and values that places children and young people at the heart of all we do
  • joyful and engaged pupils who want to learn
  • a good school (Ofsted 2013) with increasing pupil numbers
  • a committed, supportive and engaged Governing Body
  • an organisation that is highly regarded and respected in the local community and more widely within the special education sector
  • dedicated staff with a strong leadership team.

If you think you’re up for the challenge and that you’ve got the skills and qualities we’re looking for, then we want to hear from you.

Whilst it’s not essential, potential applicants are encouraged to come and visit Fountains. We think you’ll like what you see….! Please contact Mrs Kathryn Linstead on 01283 239172 to arrange a mutually convenient time.
