Job overview

Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2014), City Gateway Alternative Provision (CGAP) is expanding into being a multi-academy trust for 14-19 Alternative Educational Provision.

Due to our success, we have experienced rapid growth and change over the last few years. We are now appointing a re-structured Leadership team, and this role of Executive Principal is key to realising our vision for the long-term.

This is a unique time to join CGAP and will give you a very real opportunity to play an instrumental role in shaping our model for long-term sustainable success.

Our approach is not different because we want to be different, it is based on the fact that our approach continues to improve and transform the lives of many young people, for whom mainstream routes have failed.

A role in Alternative Provision means that you are making an impact on the young people who need your expertise the most. Working in AP is unique: success is not solely defined by academic outcomes. We’re not defined by league tables as for some students we may have as little as 3 months to make an impact on their lives. We work best when the class sizes are small and support is tailored. The curriculum is evolving and refining to be the most beneficial to our young people. It’s a massively creative and developing area.

CGAP is seeking to appoint an Executive Principal to lead and support our growth of Alternative Provision in London. We are looking for someone who is passionate, inspirational and visionary with strong leadership and mentoring skills, and a demonstrable experience of school improvement.

You will draw on your wealth of experience to ensure that each provision is on its journey toward delivering an outstanding education to the students. It is also an exceptional opportunity to be at the start of an exciting expansion phase as new provisions are added over the next 5 years.

Closing date: 16 May at 9am
Interviews: 23 & 24 May

To request an application form or for an informal discussion contact Emma Formby, Victoria Wakerley or Michael Watson on 020 3194 3147.

The school is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post holders are subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
