Kristin is an independent, co-educational school of over 1600 students from Early Learning through to Year 13, located in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore. In its 45 years of operation, Kristin has established an enviable international reputation based on its outstanding academic results, rich extra-curricular programmes and deep ‘caring’ culture. Kristin is non-denominational and welcomes students from all cultures and backgrounds. The School’s vision is to provide students with a superior all-round education, to prepare them to be responsible global citizens, to think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn enthusiastically throughout life.
The Junior, Middle and Senior schools are all situated on the same campus comprised of 50 acres of park-like grounds with state-of-the-art facilities. Each School is aligned to the philosophy of Kristin while creating its own distinctive character relative to the age group of the students. Kristin is renowned for its progressive approach to education and has a strong reputation as an education innovator. It has been a national leader in areas such as the school-wide teaching of Mandarin, the development of specialised middle school teaching methods and digital learning programmes across all year levels.
Kristin was the first school in New Zealand to introduce the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) and is the only New Zealand school authorised to offer the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes alongside the New Zealand National curriculum to Junior, Middle and Senior school students.
As an IB World School, Kristin is committed to enhancing its international perspective and a sense of global awareness across all three schools. Students at all year levels regularly partake in service initiatives to support others within the School, the local community and in the Asia Pacific region. Its highly reputed International Services Programme currently hosts over 90 students from a range of continents on short- and long-term stays.
With the retirement of its current Executive Principal the Board has initiated a recruitment process. The role has responsibility for the overall leadership and management of the School, including the development of strategy and educational innovation to ensure that Kristin continues to be a progressive and innovative leader in the New Zealand independent schools’ sector. The role requires a strategic thought leader with a strong sense of community.
The Board is seeking an outstanding charismatic and commercial leader with excellent education credentials to consolidate and strengthen Kristin’s position in this competitive sector. This is a unique opportunity to lead an organisation committed to the development of creative and independent thinkers for future generations.
