Executive Principal

Competitive Salary

Required from September 2022, ideally sooner if available

Closing date: 8am, Monday 24th January

This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational and passionate leader to join the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT). We are seeking an Executive Principal to lead and develop Medeshamstede Academy.

Medeshamstede Academy is a specialist academy for pupils aged 4 to 16 diagnosed with autistic spectrum conditions and associated difficulties (ASD), rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. We aim to educate our pupils in a positive, caring and secure environment which gives them access to a mainstream school experience wherever appropriate.

We are looking for an Executive Principal to continue to lead Medeshamstede on its journey to becoming a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for with pupils on the Autistic Spectrum. The successful Executive Principal should be a motivational leader with a proven track record of school development, especially in the field of special educational needs and Specialist Provision.

Supported by the Trust’s Strategic Director of SEND, you will lead the academy to ensure the delivery of first-class educational excellence. You will work together with stakeholders in the Trust to deliver an outstanding curriculum with excellent outcomes for pupils in primary and secondary phases.

The ‘executive’ element of the role will be to provide additional capacity across GAT; working alongside the Trusts Strategic Director of SEND, to provide leadership support and challenge to mainstream and specialist academies as part of GAT’s SEND improvement strategy. Overtime; and in developing SEND academy growth within the trust, the ‘executive’ element of the role would develop in to leading more than one academy.

We would also welcome applications from current Headteachers/Principals of good and outstanding maintained and/or standalone specialist academies who are looking to transfer their existing organisation into a multi-academy trust. This would facilitate the opportunity to be Executive Principal of Medeshamstede Academy alongside their current school/academy. This would facilitate a collaborative school-to-school to support model, whereby staff can share knowledge and expertise to meet the needs of pupils with SEND. Full written support from your governing body/board of trustees would be required on application.

There are 3 Special Academies in GAT and these are based in Peterborough, Nottinghamshire & Northamptonshire. Medeshamstede is located in Peterborough and we have 6 GAT mainstream primary and secondary academies operating in the Peterborough area. Academy leaders work closely with local, regional and national networks. Being part of the Trust enables us to share specialist best practice and work collaboratively with colleagues in other academies. The Trust provides a strong CPD offering for all staff through the Greenwood Learning Alliance. The Trust also provides centralised services and support to enable staff to focus on teaching.
