Job overview

Executive Principal

Salary: Competitive ISR (to be negotiated)

Required for: January/April 2019

The Maltby Learning Trust, established in February 2014, currently consists of two secondary and four primary academies situated in neighbouring localities. Maltby Academy is one of the founder schools in the Trust and continues to be oversubscribed and well regarded in the local community and Yorkshire region. The Academy has recently benefited from a £10.9 million capital building programme that provides inspirational learning spaces across all specialist areas. Following the ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in February 2017 the Academy is looking to build on the identified strengths and secure the highest possible outcomes for all students.

The Trust are seeking to appoint an ambitious, highly motivated and proven school leader to the role of Executive Principal at Maltby Academy to help shape and drive the school improvement agenda within the school and across the Trust. This role will provide much needed leadership capacity in Maltby Academy whilst the school undergoes a further period of change. This successful school continues to work alongside new members of the Maltby Learning Trust providing specialist capacity and support through its growing professional networks and team of specialist leaders in education.

The Executive Principal will play a key role in determining the strategic direction of the Trust by working as part of the Executive Leadership Group, alongside the CEO and other Executive Principals and Leaders. This is an exciting time for the Academy and the Trust, following the recent recruitment and induction of a new senior leadership team at Maltby Academy and the addition of another large secondary school into the Trust.

We are looking for an exceptional leader with the experience and qualities to inspire and motivate staff and students alike and take the school to the next level of successful performance.

To arrange a conversation about the role with the CEO or arrange a visit to Maltby Academy, please contact Miss Nicky Bailey, Executive Assistant to the CEO at nbailey@maltbylearningtrust.com

Closing Date: Monday 22nd October 2018 at 9.00am

Interviews: Wednesday 24th / Thursday 25th October 2018.

Maltby Academy is a mainstream, non-selective, state secondary school for girls and boys aged 11-19. The school is situated in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. There are 1,040 children on its roll.

Our vision is to deliver exceptional experiences that enable all young people to thrive in a competitive world and lead successful and fulfilling lives.

Maltby Academy has highly skilled, dedicated and talented teaching and support staff.

Teachers are passionate about their subject and are keen to develop that love of learning in young people. Our team of committed support staff go that extra mile to support, challenge and encourage students and families every step of the way. The level of dedication, aspiration and challenge, underpinned by our insistence on traditional values of good manners and common courtesy continues to drive excellent examination results and secure first rate progression routes for everyone.

Our Academy is an inspirational place to learn. The school has undergone a huge transformation, having secured Academy status in January 2010 to now being a sponsoring Academy at the heart of the Maltby Learning Community. The state-of-the-art buildings create an exceptional learning environment that is befitting for the hardworking and committed staff and students that it serves.

We are committed to ensuring that every lesson is delivered with passion and is underpinned by high quality subject knowledge, so that we give our young people an exceptional learning experience every day.  We only recruit and develop the very best staff and are keen to develop new and emerging leaders within our own school. At Maltby Academy we have a vibrant extra-curricular program and are committed to providing a wealth of opportunities outside the classroom.

Our aim is to help each and every one of our students develop into mature and confident young people who are fully prepared for life beyond the Academy.  We are extremely aspirational for our students both academically and in relation to personal development – each student is treated as an individual and we don’t place limits on what we think they can achieve. Our 5 Key Drivers of Resilience, Confidence, Aspiration, Community, Responsibility underpin everything we do and ensure that students build the skills, qualities, and characteristics to lead successful and fulfilling lives.

However, it is our young people that make the Academy such a special place to learn - they are honest, welcoming, supportive of each other and willing to take themselves out of their comfort zone and take part in new experiences.  We aim to build strong relationships with parents/carers and the wider community so that we can support our young people to strive to be the very best they can be.
