We are seeking to appoint an experienced Computer Science teacher to our innovative and forward-thinking Design Technology, Art and Computing Team.
Someone who is looking to develop into leadership and management; and to make a significant contribution to strategic thinking and creative curriculum development of Computer Science as part of the growth and development of our team.
So the post offers a TLR 3 in the first year. The TLR structure of this growing team will be reviewed once the fixed term school improvement project is complete. Shortlisted candidates are invited to explore this aspect of the role at interview.
Computer Science is a growing area within the school curriculum across Years 7-13 and it is our ambition to inspire and empower the computer scientists of the future. Our Design Technology, Art and Computing Team is at an exciting moment in its development, and one in which the ideas, energy and drive of the potential candidate will be welcomed, encouraged and valued.
The successful candidate will believe that every child is most likely to achieve their full potential when challenged in a high-expectation learning environment.
The successful candidate will have:
• A commitment to making a difference for young people
• A passion and enthusiasm for Computer Science and a desire to inspire and motivate students of all ages and abilities
• An innovative and creative approach to curriculum design
• The ambition to drive expansion of the role of Computer Science within the school
• A commitment to the importance of digital fluency in modern communications
• A willingness to embrace new technology and techniques for promoting Computer Science, such as immersing students in the language of coding and robotics.
The school is embarking on a £12 million building project in August 2021. As part of the Technology suite that is being re-modelled, Computer Science will have four brand new purpose-built rooms. The spaces have been designed with STEM in mind, areas where students can advance their programming knowledge, develop their practical skills and undertake problem solving tasks requiring them to also apply their knowledge of maths and science.
We aim to recruit teachers who have high academic achievement or expertise in their subject and then provide an environment in which curiosity and enthusiasm for professional learning are encouraged and celebrated. Our Professional Learning programmes provide a wide range of opportunities for colleagues at all career stages to engage with research; work collaboratively with colleagues across teams; and develop their subject expertise. We also have a thriving coaching programme.
Young people only get one chance at education; so at Wilmslow High School we are committed to the pursuit of excellence for every student, every day. We do this through our dedication to learning, by being guided by values and in striving to serve.
We endeavour to preserve a happy and caring environment that is rooted in our core values, and in which staff and students can flourish, whilst challenging ourselves to pursue excellence for all our students.
The school is set in extensive grounds, ideally positioned between the thriving city of Manchester and the open countryside of the Peak District.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to respect this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
