Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher to provide one-to-one support to a child with highly autism, ADHD and who is non-verbal. This is a full-time position, working five days a week from 07:20 am -4pm, with a competitive salary package.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating an individualized education program (IEP) for the child. You will be required to work closely with the school’s SENCo, the child’s parents and any other professionals involved in the child’s care to ensure that the child receives the best possible support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing an individualized education program (IEP) for the child based on their unique needs and abilities
  • Providing one-to-one support to the child in the classroom and during other activities
  • Collaborating with the school’s SENCo, parents and other professionals involved in the child’s care to ensure consistency in approach and the provision of high-quality support
  • Assessing and monitoring the child’s progress, and making adjustments to the IEP as needed
  • Using a range of teaching strategies and approaches to engage the child and support their learning and development
  • Managing challenging behaviour effectively and using positive behaviour management techniques
  • Providing regular feedback to parents and other professionals involved in the child’s care

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Special Education Needs, Education, Psychology or related field
  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS)
  • At least 5 years’ experience working with children with autism, ADHD and other special needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching strategies and approaches for supporting children with special needs
  • Experience in developing and implementing individualised education programs (IEPs)
  • The ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively and use positive behaviour management techniques
  • A commitment to working collaboratively with parents, colleagues and other professionals involved in the child’s care
