Job overview

If you have what it takes to make a difference, then the students of UCS need YOU!

This isn’t just any teaching job. This is the opportunity to be part of something amazing, to improve the life chances of children and to accelerate your career at a phenomenal rate. This unique post is non-class based and designed to empower the successful candidate to do whatever it takes to make SEND provision world class for our schools.

As a member of QUEST you will be working with other amazing practitioners who share your vision of an outstanding education for all.

We are friendly and pride ourselves in our family ethos – come and see for yourselves.

So, if you are:

  • Driven by a strong moral purpose to enable achievement for all…
  • Passionate about making SEND provision world class for children (and adults!)…
  • A Special Educational Needs whizz who can share your excellent practice with colleagues around SEN and Behaviour management, in a nurturing and non-threatening way…
  • A natural leader, who will bring further expertise to our already phenomenal team…
  •  Adept at joint planning, team-teaching, interventions, coaching and mentoring or whatever it takes to bring about rapid improvements in SEND provision and outcomes…
  • Warm in character, easy to work with and committed to teamwork, recognising that more can be achieved together than is possible as individuals…
  • Unafraid of hard work…
  • Calm and able to handle pressure and setbacks…
  • Keen to be challenged to become the best that you can be…
  • Able to be pushed at an accelerated rate of development, and reflective and proactive enough to make it happen…

Then you would love to work with our academy trust and we would love to welcome you to the team.

This is a once in lifetime opportunity to be part of something great. This opportunity will open doors both professionally and personally to anyone who joins our quest.

We can offer you:

  • A Deputy CEO dedicated to helping you develop an outstanding career;
  • The chance to be part of a Multi-Academy Trust that genuinely cares about YOU;
  • Exciting, accelerated leadership development and early promotion opportunities for the right candidates across our Multi-Academy Trust;
  • The chance to work with a fantastic team;
  • The chance to develop the SEND team and offer - the area you are passionate about;
  • An excellent CPD training programme;
  • Fun-loving, energetic and enthusiastic pupils;
  • Proactive parents waiting to join us on our journey to excellence.

We would like to hear from great teachers and leaders, with secondary experience and a genuine commitment to improving the life chances of the children they teach.

Give us a call even if you're just a tiny bit interested - it really is as exciting as it sounds!

For an informal discussion, please contact Mrs. Laura James (l.james@quest-trust.org.uk) on 07887613073  – leave a message and I promise I will get back to you!

The UCS is a University Technical College encompassing Key Stage 3 and 4, along with a sixth form provision.

The UCS has an outstanding facility for 11 to 19 year olds which includes specialist laboratories. Our facilities uniquely inspire and motivate our students to succeed in their studies and propel their careers forward.

To accommodate the growing student numbers, a new £17million extension opened in September 2025, along with our Multi Use Games Area which opened in September 2024, providing an incredible space for our students and the local community to engage in a wide range of sports and activities. This fantastic addition reflects our commitment to promoting health, well-being, and inclusivity.

Our staff are subject specialists who employ a wide range of teaching and learning strategies.

The UCS is proud to be an inclusive school. Our values of Professional, Responsible, Loyal guide everything we do and govern how we treat all our stakeholders. We take inclusion seriously and make sure that each individual in our organisation is seen and cared for.

Our school has been judged as 'good' by Ofsted, a testament to the hard work and unwavering dedication of our

team. We have a cohort of willing and engaged students who thrive in our inclusive environment, as evidenced by our

Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) award.

We take great pride in our role within the UTC framework. It is our mission to ensure that pupils receive a high-quality technical education that equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful future. We believe that fostering strong partnerships with local employers is crucial in this endeavour. By working closely with industry professionals, we ensure that our curriculum is not only relevant but also aligned with the needs of the workforce.

Some of the key aspects of our UTC model include:

  • Industry Collaboration: We actively engage with employers to develop a curriculum that reflects current industry standards and practises.
  • Hands-On Learning: Our approach emphasises practical experiences, allowing pupils to apply their learning in real-world contexts.
  • Career Readiness: We are dedicated to preparing pupils for a variety of career pathways, ensuring they are equipped with both technical skills and essential soft skills.

QUEST Trust supports young people from Early Years to Employment.
