Dear Applicant,

Welcome to The Hyde! Strong relationships underpin everything we do here. As a Class Teacher you will be working as part of our team to create outstanding memories for our wonderful children. We are looking for someone who truly believes in helping all children to achieve their full potential!

Our children are fabulous and have a unique learning experience as they travel through their journey at The Hyde. The Hyde School was graded as ‘outstanding’ at our last Ofsted Inspection in May 2015. Our school has incredibly well behaved children with fantastic attitudes to learning. The Hyde has a clear vision for school improvement and successful strategies for making things happen! Our achievements have included:

  • Flagship School for Inclusion
  • Being awarded The Wellbeing Award for Schools 2022
  • Representing Barnet in the London Youth Games
  • The children do well at sports and win lots of medals in a range of sporting

events, including winning the netball league five years in succession!

  • Being awarded The Artsmark Platinum award
  • Extending our Urban Adventure Curriculum
  • Achieving above National Average outcomes for our children year after year

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational teacher to join our wonderful Early Years and Key Stage 1 team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Early Years education and a solid understanding of the EYFS curriculum. A passion for teaching our youngest children and an understanding of the importance of play are key. Collaboration within a team environment is also essential, as you'll work closely with colleagues to deliver quality education and support children’s holistic development. In this role, you will be responsible for providing experiences which build on children’s existing knowledge and understanding in order to challenge, stimulate and extend their learning and development. You will encourage children’s independence, critical thinking and decision-making, whilst supporting them to learn through trial and error. Furthermore, you will work within a dedicated team of professionals to maintain and further develop an exciting child centred learning environment that is full of awe and wonder.

Children have a huge say in what they learn at The Hyde. We have devised an ‘Urban Adventure’ curriculum that is fun, skills based and relevant to our children. This is also reflected within our Early Years. Child’s interests and skills based learning is placed at the centre of our pedagogy. Children are encouraged to express themselves in their own unique ways, whilst staff facilitate learning opportunities through carefully planned next steps. We actively encourage every year group to go on trips, whether it is into London or further afield. Their ‘Urban Adventure’ experience aids all aspects of learning and the children simply love it. The progress of learning that the children make is truly outstanding.

Staffing Structure and Support

We have an incredibly talented Leadership Team who work with Phase Leaders focusing purely on teaching and learning. I am seconded to our academy trust for a day a week as the London Regional Lead for SEND supporting other Elliot Foundation Schools. Our team of Deputy and Assistant Headteachers lead on the teaching and learning agenda, developing their phase teams and middle leaders.

There are huge opportunities for professional development at The Hyde. Our Deputy Headteachers, Assistant Headteachers and our ‘in house’ Lead Practitioners offer coaching cycles of support and team teaching experiences. We strongly encourage outreach work and many of us support other schools within The Elliot Foundation and in Barnet, Brent and Herts which also helps to generate extra income. A number of our staff are expert teachers, supporting other schools, or moderators for the local authority.
