The British School in Tokyo is a not-for-profit, non-selective independent 3-18 British international school founded in 1989. The school was judged ‘Excellent’ in all areas from Nursery to Sixth Form in our inspection (Nov 2011 and Mar 2015). The Independent Schools Inspectorate said that our teachers deliver stimulating and challenging lessons providing the very best in British Education in Japan.

We broadly follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum 2014 for England and prepare students for IGCSE and A-level examinations. EYFS and Primary PE Teacher

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking, dynamic staff who provide excellent quality learning and teaching to children of British and other international families in the heart of Tokyo.

This role is for a September 2018 start.

The specific key roles for this post are included in the separate Job Description.

We are seeking a suitably-experienced and outstanding practitioner to teach PE to children from all Early Years and Primary year groups, as well as leading Primary School squads, clubs, fixtures and sports events. The successful candidate will be joining a team of dedicated and experienced PE specialists and should possess a commitment to helping our students achieve their potential physically and mentally.

We require:

  • Evidence of outstanding teaching in Primary school PE – Nursery to Y6.
  • Secure PE curriculum subject knowledge
  • Rigorous lesson design, delivery and management
  • High expectations and the ability to effectively challenge and meet all needs
  • Clear understanding of and appreciation for effective use of baseline assessment data to inform PE teaching
  • EYFS PE teaching experience would be advantageous
  • Excellent organisation, commitment and team work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Determination and ability to supply the best educational experience in the world
