Inspire our little learners! We are currently looking to appoint an Early Years Foundation Stage Leader to join our dedicated and supportive team at Harris Primary Academy Benson. This role is well suited to an individual with teaching experience in a primary school environment looking to develop in a thriving academy environment.

Main Areas of Responsibility

As EYFS Leader, your role will be to act as the lead professional for Early Years, ensuring outstanding provision is developed and that all staff in the Foundation Stage are outstanding practitioners. Your responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and monitoring the weekly and medium term planning of staff within the foundation stage and in consultation with the headship team take action as appropriate
  • Coordinating the resources for teaching and learning within the foundation stage in conjunction with the school's planning and resourcing policy
  • Daily rotas and changes within the foundation stage
  • Taking assemblies
  • Monitoring discipline and behaviour within the foundation stage
  • Ensuring the availability of advice to all members of the foundation stage for consistency with the whole school behaviour policy
  • Attending management meetings and chair staff meetings as appropriate
  • Acting as team leader for performance management

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • A proven track record of recent and successful class teaching in mixed ability classes of primary age
  • Successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum
  • Good understanding of current theory and best practice in teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to achieving high rates of progress of children of primary age
  • Good subject knowledge of core National Curriculum
  • EYFS experience
  • The ability to teach second language.
  • Some knowledge of English as a specialist subject

School summary

Harris Primary Academy Benson opened in September 2013. We have more than 400 lively young minds at our Academy. Children are supported to be the best they can be by our dedicated teachers and support staff.

Our staff and pupils work together to make sure everyone makes the most of the wealth of opportunities on offer here.

There is plenty of time for fun and creativity throughout the school day and everything we do is underpinned by dedicated teaching of reading, writing and maths. This combination means that our children become eager, confident and imaginative learners.

We were rated ‘Good’ in every category in our Ofsted inspection in June 2015.

Academy ethos

Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills and knowledge necessary to succeed. Every lesson at our school is creative and there is plenty of time for children to think, to play, to discover and wonder.

Each child is taught in the way that suits them best and we step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested.

Our school is relaxed and comfortable but pupils know that good behaviour is expected of them and are taught to respect each other and their teachers. They are frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working and well-behaved.

Our school is friendly and welcoming and we always make sure that every pupil has at least one friend.
