Job overview

EYFS Leader

The children, staff and Governors of Lingey House Primary School are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Leader to join our hardworking and supportive staff team. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop their own teaching and leadership in a supportive and aspirational environment from 17th April 2023 (or as soon as possible).

Lingey House Primary School is situated in Leam Lane Estate, Gateshead. We are a friendly and supportive school with amazing children who want to learn. Despite being a larger than average primary school, we are committed to having a small, family-feel and supportive relationships with children and parents are very important to us. The school’s values of Individuality, Kindness, Nurture, Respect and Resilience are at the heart of everything we do. We want someone who has a good understanding of these values and who can promote and enhance them from the very start of our children’s time at school. For this EYFS Leader role, you will be an innovative, experienced EYFS teacher ready for a more senior role, or a current EYFS Leader who is keen to develop your leadership talents and is ready for a new challenge.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for teaching and is reflective in their own practice
  • Has their own clear vision for early years and is ambitious to achieve this
  • Can create an innovative, imaginative EYFS curriculum based upon active learning
  • Is confident to create a child-centred curriculum and learning environment
  • Is passionate about children’s mental health and wellbeing
  • Has at least 4 years’ teaching experience (at least three years’ experience teaching in EYFS)
  • Aims to ensure that each individual child’s developmental needs are met, and overcome any barriers to learning
  • Is committed to developing positive relationships with our children, and their families to provide the best support for them
  • Has high expectations of themselves and the children they teach
  • Has fantastic resilience with a real ‘can-do attitude’
  • Works well as part of a team and is willing to participate fully in all aspects of school life
  • Is flexible and has a good sense of humour

We can offer you:

  • A large EYFS provision consisting of 2 reception classes and a 52 FTE Nursery (15 & 30-hours)
  • The opportunity to shape the future of our EYFS and make a difference to the lives of our children
  • Friendly, enthusiastic children who are keen to learn and enjoy school
  • Friendly, supportive colleagues who are motivated to develop our school and work well together
  • Supportive Governors who are keen to further improve our school
  • An innovative SLT team who are passionate and knowledgeable about EYFS and prioritise wellbeing of staff as well as pupils
  • Excellent opportunities for CPD linked to your needs
  • A well-resourced school and grounds

This role holds a large TLR allowance (TLR 2b £5193) to reflect the sustained additional leadership responsibility attached to the role, the significant developments needed in EYFS and the level of line management responsibility.

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to join our team and hope you will want to further explore this with us. Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school Business Manager, Denise Hewitt, either via email: LingeyHousePrimarySchool@Gateshead.gov.uk or by phone: 0191 4381287 to arrange this.

In the meantime, please connect with our school social media (Facebook) to get a real flavour of life at Lingey House!

Completed application forms are to be emailed to Denise Hewitt, School Business Manager at LingeyHousePrimarySchool@Gateshead.gov.uk

Lingey House Primary School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. If successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.

Closing date: Wednesday 8th February 2023
