School Context  

Devonshire House is a large co-educational prep school (550 on roll) in Hampstead, north London, on the cusp of a transformational period of positive change, intent on offering an outstanding education in every sense for its pupils and their parents. Summary of the role

 The post holder will be responsible for teaching music for Early Years pupils at Devonshire House School. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Music to ensure early years music provision at Devonshire House remains at a consistently high standard.

Job Description

Main duties:

  • Teaching Music lessons for our Early Years Department 
  • To support teachers with end of Autumn and Summer term performances
  • Keeping appropriate records of pupils’ attendance and academic progress
  • Writing reports on children’s progress and achievement (summer term)
  • Attendance at staff meetings as reasonably called by the Headteacher
  • Attendance at official staff development and training events as arranged by the Headteacher
  • Attendance and participation in official school events
  • Work with the other staff and Headteacher to ensure Devonshire maintains our strong commitment to the protection, welfare and safety of our children.


Person Specification

 QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Essential:  

  • GCSEs or equivalent at a Grade C/4 and above in Math, English
  • Relevant music qualifications and/or experience


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:  

  • An excellent track record teaching music
  • Evidence of further relevant professional development
  • Confidence and understanding of safeguarding and child protection statutory legislations and school protocol.


Desirable: 

  • Experience in an independent school
  • Experience teaching music to early years
