The Post

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking, caring, dedicated and organised individual to work, effectively as a full-time member of staff, within our excellent Early Years Foundation Stage Unit during the afternoons and lead the After School Care (ASC) team into the evenings.

After School Care service is an integral part of our School and supports our community providing a warm, creative, and fun environment for approximately 30 pupils aged 3-10. The EYFS role involves leading key person groups, the setting up of learning environments and the planning of activities, delivery of small group learning activities, a commitment to outdoor learning and observation and assessment of pupils.

Hours of work and pay scale

11.30am – 6.15pm term time only (35 weeks + 1week) 31.25 hours per week.

Reporting to: Head of Junior Department


Salary: £21,304 - £25,231 FTE  Actual Salary: £13,997 - £16,577

 

Key responsibilities

•     Planning and running a range of appropriate engaging activities in EYFS and ASC appropriate to their age and stage

•     Communicating effectively with pupils, parents and colleagues

•     Ensuring the safeguarding, wellbeing and health and safety of our pupils at all times.

•     Maintaining all relevant records

•     Attending and running staff meetings and training sessions as required.

•     Providing personal care for EYFS pupils, if required

•     Managing and overseeing the After School Care service

•     Leading and motivating a team of After School Care Assistants

•     Supporting and contributing to the wider life of the Leicester High School community  

Skills and Experience

Essential:

•     Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare and a commitment to taking the Level 5 qualification in Early Years Childcare/Management

•     Enthusiasm and creativity

•     Ability to take initiative and work independently 

•     Ability to work within and manage team dynamics

•     Excellent communication skills

•     Sensitivity towards the needs of the pupils

•     The understanding of safeguarding procedures

•     Discretion, professionalism and confidentiality

•     Ability to chair discussions and meetings with ASC team

•     Experience in a childcare setting

•     Flexibility to work within the demands of a busy school

Desirable:

•     Level 5 qualification in Early Years Childcare/Management

•     Food Hygiene qualification

•     First Aid qualification

Leicester High School is a well established day school for girls  located on a beautiful site, near to Leicester racecourse. The School has been based on this site for over 100 years, close to the shops and restaurants of leafy Stoneygate. Our location is well connected with excellent road links and just two miles from Leicester train station. 

Founded in 1906 as Portland House School, we now comprises a Junior Department of approximately 100 girls (3-9 years) and a Senior School of approximately 250 girls (10-18) sited on the same campus.
