The College has distinct ambitions to expand its choice of programmes and support the economic transformation of Wigan and the surrounding areas.  As a growing college we are in a strong position to continue to invest in our campuses with the development of state of the art facilities.

The College has created a community that encourages all students to enhance their learning through wider opportunities and support services; to maximise their achievements and secure progression onto further study, apprenticeships and employment.

The College has a dedicated Business Services Team and is in a secure position to grow this provision to continue to meet the needs of the local and regional community.

We are looking to appoint a Fabrication and Welding Trainer Assessor to our highly motivated and creative team.

A Fabrication and Welding Trainer Assessor is required to support apprentices by carrying out workplace assessments, reviews, setting actions and preparing them for end point assessment on professional standards at Levels 2 and 3. The role will also include IQA duties within an existing team and developing the College’s offer of apprenticeship standards in conjunction with employer partners and awarding bodies.

Suitable candidates will possess a minimum of a level 3 fabrication and welding qualification and have knowledge of MIG, TIG and MMA. A recognised assessment qualification (TAQA, A1, V1 or equivalent), would be advantageous for this role, along with an understanding of all aspects of workplace assessment.

The College reserves the right to interview for this post should we receive suitable candidates prior to the closing date.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Employees will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list. To comply with legislation, you are required to obtain a DBS check for your role. We will be asking Protocol National Ltd/Esafeguarding Ltd to undertake this process on our behalf.

Wigan and Leigh college is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
