Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Facilities Apprentice to join our Facilities Team. The successful candidate should be able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a team. The candidate will complete a Facilities Services Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship and the hours required to study/train are included in the weekly hours.

The position is for a fixed term contract until completion of the Apprenticeship where the position would then move to a permanent contract. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with shifts between 07:00–18:00. Some flexibility may be required for evening events. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per year plus bank holidays.

St Wilfrid’s has an extremely strong reputation in the community and as such, we are heavily oversubscribed with waiting lists in all year groups. We are a 6-form entry Catholic School but we increased in size to 7 forms of entry in September 2023 & 2024 for Year 7 as a bulge class to help West Sussex with the demand for places. Our VI Form is incredibly popular and continues to grow in size. This is a great measure of our success.

The students love their school and staff love working here. In our most recent Catholic Schools inspection, where we were rated “Outstanding”, the inspectors commented, “in every interview the word “community” was one of the defining characteristics of St Wilfrid’s”.  

Students at St Wilfrid’s make “above average” progress overall and our reputation for this is countywide. We are determined to do even better.
