We believe every student is unique and should be valued for being who they are. Whether in a teaching or non-teaching role, at One In A Million, we all have a responsibility to our students.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and creative Facilities Manager. This committed individual will have a pivotal role in the organisation, consequently we are seeking a person with energy, enthusiasm and experience to fulfil this key role in supporting and developing this unique secondary school and additional sites as the organisation grows.

You will make a positive and active contribution to whole school improvement; strategically managing the development and maintenance of multiple sites whilst retaining the opportunity to work hands on using a trade skill. This trade skill could be plumbing, mechanical and electrical, joinery, grounds maintenance or project management.

You will have the ability to support the organisation, together with the part time Premises Assistant, with daily ongoing premises issues including building security, transport management, health and safety, maintenance and room set ups. The ability to balance strategic leadership and project management with the needs for a hands-on approach to the school environment is essential.

We will soon see the opening of our brand new offsite Sports Hub, complete with 4G pitch, grass pitches, classroom and community space. As the leader of this exciting space you must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a small staff team that will grow in size over the next year. In addition, you will be able to lead on all health and safety issues and be a confident IT user, able to update and maintain all premises records.

The post holder will work directly on their own initiative, supporting and giving advice to the Senior Leadership Team. You will work closely with and be line managed by the Business Manager and report to the Principal and Vice Principal as required.

You need to be a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual, who is not shy of physical involvement, being able to manage a demanding and varied workload whilst becoming an essential part of our community.

We are looking for someone who is immensely proud to oversee our amazing facilities and wants to ensure they are always maintained to the highest specification.

In completing your application form you should explain, giving examples where possible, how your experience and abilities match the skills and competencies set out in our job description.

We believe every student is unique and should be valued for being who they are. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a strong commitment to the school’s vision, values, culture and ethos.

If you can say yes to the above and have the appropriate experience then we would encourage you to apply. It is essential that candidates must also have a full UK driving licence and use of their own vehicle.

You can request an application pack by sending an email to recruitment@oneinamillion.org.uk .   Closing date - 9am on 7th December 2016, interviews will be held week commencing 12th December 2016.

About One In A Million Free School

We are delighted that you have shown an interest in our unique and popular secondary Free School.

One In A Million Free School was last inspected by Ofsted on 13-14th June 2023 and was judged as requires improvements.  Previous to this, the school was inspected 20-21st March 2018 and received a good judgement under the previous framework.

OIAM Free School opened in September 2013. We are a small secondary school with classes sizes of no more than 26 students. Our school is now fully populated. Each year we are oversubscribed for places, but we will remain a small school.

One In A Million Free School is part of One In A Million which is a Bradford based charity that engages predominantly with disadvantaged children and young people, through Sports, Arts and Enterprise. Our core values of compassion, honesty, integrity and excellence are at the heart of all we do. Our name reflects our philosophy: every child is valued and unique.

Relationships are key to our offer and we will always adopt a family approach so that students feel valued and connected.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced, ensuring students acquire strong basic skills in literacy and numeracy, personal, social and emotional learning and create ‘character’. We develop themed pathways in Sports, Arts and Enterprise. Our school day ensures quality time for personal, instructional, conceptual and collaborative learning experiences.

Our staff nurture and develop a deep sense of self-worth, pride and ambition in all our students. All students in our school will be seen as unique - as ‘one in a million’.

Since One In A Million started its first community project in Canterbury, Bradford, in 2006, we now deliver formal education and community programmes to over 2,300 children and young people every week.

Our ‘Hub and Spoke’ vision places our Free School at the centre of what we do.
